This time of year is always bitter sweet! It's great to think back on all the accomplishments and of course with that, I think of all the things that I couldn't cram into 2011. I still remember the school days when summer break lasted forever. Now, the years are flying by!
As we look forward to a New Year, it's inevitable that New Year's resolutions will pop into mind. I've always been a "goal setter" so for me, this time of year is a great reason to really put some thought into my New Year's resolutions.
This year I'm going to focus on incorporating a few activities that I love back into my schedule. As I've settled into being a mommy this past year, many things I used to enjoy have slipped off the schedule. My New's Year's resolution is to get those "fun" things back onto my weekly calendar as I continue to strive toward the perfect balance between family, work, play, and personal time.
Here are 3 tips that will help you set fun and obtainable New Years resolutions:

1. Think back to a time when you were your happiest and healthiest. Perhaps playing college sports, hiking, bowling with friends, hitting the basketball court, morning jogs, or simply setting aside time for exercising at home.
2. Get out the calendar and make time to do 1 or 2 of those activities every week. Don't wait for a good time, MAKE time or it'll never happen.
3. Get excited! Doing activities that bring happy and healthy memories help to create a positive energy. Be careful not to focus on how good you were "back in the day", instead enjoy the journey and celebrate "you" making time to get back into your groove. Invite friends, significant others, or join a new group to stay motivated.

I'm going to get back on my rollerblades again. I used to roll out of bed and strap on my rollerblades before I was even awake! I'd head out the door for an hour and zip effortlessly down the beach getting a great workout while taking time for me. Somehow in the last few years that has gone from one time a week to one time every few months! Sound familiar? We all have those activities we simply don't make time for and when it comes down to it, you really CAN make time to add them back into your routine!
I'm aiming to rollerblade 3 or 4 times a week. Although it's just one of my small and simple resolutions, it's something that I'm looking forward to accomplishing!
